From 1967-1992 he was Manager of the Oakland County International Airport. He is an Accredited Airport Executive with the American Association of Airport Executives and was President of the Michigan Association of Airport Executives in 1973-74 and 1994-95. Mr. VanderVeen serves on the Board of Directors of the Michigan Business Aviation Association. He has a private pilot's license, a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University, and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Michigan. He was appointed to the Michigan Aeronautics Commission in 2011 by Governor Rick Synder.
