New Access Settlement Information
Michigan customers of New Access
Communications are eligible for compensation if any one of the following apply:
(1) bills were paid for telephone service that was switched to New Access
without the authorization of an adult member of the household; (2) bills were
paid after cancellation of service with New Access; (3) savings represented by
New Access at the time that telephone service was switched were not received; or
(4) the terms or price of New Access services were misrepresented. New Access
will have an opportunity to contest eligibility.
Eligible consumers must obtain a
claim form from New Access (1-877-613-7487) or the Attorney General by August
26, 2004, and must send the completed claim form to New Access by September 15,
2004. The Settlement requires tracking of claim form requests and, therefore,
the form is not available on a Web site. We ask, although it is not a
requirement for compensation eligibility, that Michigan consumers send the
Consumer Protection Division a copy of their completed claim form.
