Cox: Michigan Will Miss Vern Ehlers Wisdom in Congress

Contact:  John Sellek or Nick De Leeuw 517-373-8060

February 10,  2010

LANSING Attorney General Mike Cox today issued the following statement in response to Michigan Congressman Vern Ehlers' decision not to seek a 10th term in Congress:

"Michigan would do well to have more public servants like Vern Ehlers and will miss his wisdom, his experience and his passion for people and the environment.  For the better part of two decades, Vern and his wife Jo have faithfully and wonderfully served the people of Grand Rapids and all of Michigan from "Jerry Ford's seat."  I wish him and his wife all the best and congratulate Vern for all he has accomplished in Congress.  Whoever succeeds him in representing the 3rd District has big shoes to fill."
