You may view a list of registered police and fire groups (also called "public safety organizations") that solicit contributions in Michigan. Most of these groups are not charities. Registration is not an endorsement. An organization is registered if it provides the information required by the Public Safety Organization Act.

Citizens may be contacted by professional fund raisers that are hired and paid by the police or fire organizations to solicit donations. Like the police and fire organizations, the professional fund raisers must also be registered with the Attorney General. Unlike the police and fire groups, however, the professional fund raisers are for-profit businesses.

REGISTERED PUBLIC SAFETY PROFESSIONAL FUND RAISERS

You may view and search a list of public safety professional fund raisers that are registered to solicit donations for police and fire groups. Registration is not an endorsement. Registration occurs if the professional fund raiser has provided the information required by the Attorney General's Office.

A professional fund raiser under the Public Safety Solicitation Act plans, conducts, manages, or carries on drives or campaigns of soliciting contributions for police or fire organizations. Consultants, as well as solicitors, are professional fund raisers.
