| "MDA inspectors may be found anywhere that feed, seed, and fertilizers are manufactured or sold, including feed mills, grocery stores, pharmacies, pet stores, and wholesale distributors." How many inspectors do you actually have? Its my understanding that you have one weights and measures inspector to cover most of the northern part of the lower peninsula, as well as all of the upper peninsula. How could one man possibly do due diligence to all of that area? So, again, how many "Agricultural Product Program" inspectors do you have per region? |

| The MDA's Pesticide and Plant Pest Management Division employs eight full time positions devoted to agricultural products (seed, fertilizer, feed, medicated feed, animal remedies and grain elevator sanitation) state wide. This work includes inspection of the product, checking labels for accuracy and wholesomeness, and sampling and laboratory analysis to insure accuracy of claims and product safety. Due to recent budget challenges we do have fewer inspectors than we would like; nevertheless, we remain committed to protecting the citizens of Michigan and will do all we can to continue to do so. |
