• Connect Michigan Awarded $3 Million Grant to Further Implement Broadband Initiatives in Michigan Connect Michigan, a statewide broadband expansion initiative, was awarded $3 million in additional funding under the State Broadband Data and Development Grant Program (SBDD) to further implement broadband initiatives over a five-year award period. The Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced the grant on September 28, 2010. | • NTIA Announces Final Broadband Awards On September 27, 2010, NTIA made its final announcement of Recovery Act investments. The announcement included an award of $5.2 million to Michigan State University for a sustaninable broadband adoption project.
| • Granholm Announces $34 Million in Recovery Act
Grants to Expand Broadband Access in Michigan LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced that two Michigan applicants for federal broadband funding will receive more than $34 million to expand access to broadband service in communities throughout Michigan. The competitive grants, administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), are funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act). |
