The percentage of people in each income category and the percent covered by health insurance were predicted for each area and demographic group using aggregate information from the Annual Social and Economic Supplement to the Current Population Survey (CPS ASEC), County Business Patterns (employment data), the Internal Revenue Service, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, the Medicaid/Children's Health Insurance Program, and the 2000 Census.  These estimates are also consistent with the Census Bureau's estimates of population by county, age, race, and sex.  Click here for more information on the SAHIE estimates and the underlying methodology.
