Relicensure

Effective November 10, 2003, the relicensure requirements for brokers and salespersons changed. Basically, an individual whose license has been lapsed for less than 3 years from the expiration date of the last license may be granted relicensure by submitting the appropriate application form, fee and completing 6 approved clock hours of continuing education for each of the years the license was lapsed.

The continuing education courses that you missed in previous years are no longer being offered.  You need to take different topic numbers that are approved at this time that add up to the number of clock hours needed to become relicensed.  Please remember that if you "used" a CE Course for relicensure, it cannot be counted again toward renewal. All licenses expire every three years and the next expiration date is October 31, 2009.

However, the education requirements have changed for those individuals with licenses lapsed more than three years.

  • For brokers and associate brokers, the choices are 6 hours of CE for every year the license was lapsed, OR completion of the 90 clock hours of approved prelicensure education, OR successful completion of the broker license exam.
  • For salespersons, the choices are 6 hours of CE for every year the license was lapsed, OR completion of the 40 clock hours of approved prelicensure education, OR successful completion of the salesperson license exam.
