Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) Honor Guard members traveled from Marquette, Coldwater, Muskegon and Detroit to participate in this year’s 13th annual Michigan Parade in Lansing. Deputy Director Pat Caruso turned out for an inspection and drill review prior to their parade appearance.
“The Michigan parade kicked off our parade season and based on the positive comments from participants, spectators and parade officials, the 2003 season has gotten off to an excellent start,” said Commander Willis Chapman, ADW, Western Wayne Correctional Facility. “One of the highlights for the Honor Guard members was the presence of DD Caruso. Her comments of support were appreciated.”
The Honor Guard will represent the MDOC on Fathers’ Day, June 15 at the 2003 Frankenmuth Bavarian Festival Parade. In the past, the team has participated in parades in Marquette, St. Ignace, Traverse City, Saginaw, Muskegon, Grand Haven, Manistee, Ionia, Greenville and Plymouth.
