The Officer Recruit training curriculum is as follows:

Officer Recruit Training - Phase 1

A.C.A. Accreditation - 1 hour 

Administrative Time - 1 hour 

Airborne Pathogens - 1 hour

Bloodborne Pathogens - 3 hours

Chemical Agents - 4 hours

Collaborative Case Management - 2 hours

Communicating for Change - 8 hours

Computer Security - 1 hour

CPR - 8 hours

Criminal Justice - 3 hours

Custody and Security, Basics - 8 hours

Deputy Director CFA Address - 1 hour

Directors Address - 1 hour

Discriminatory Harassment - 4 hours

Disturbance Control - 18 hours

Diversity - 16 hours

Drug Test Training - 2 hours

Ethics - 3 hours

Facility Orientation - 1 hour

Firearms Familiarization - 12 hours

Fire Safety - 2 hours

First Aid - 4 hours

General Safety Awareness (MIOSHA) - 1 hour 

Graduation Activities - 8 hours

HBV Vaccination #1 - 1 hour

HBV Vaccination #2 - 1 hour

Hostage Awareness - 2 hours

Managing Offenders & Their Behavior, Part I Leadership & Communication - 16 hours

Managing Offenders & Their Behavior, Part II Physical Controls - 24 hours 

Managing Stress Effectively - 4 hours

Mentally Disordered Prisoners - 4 hours

Michigan Prison System - 2 hours

Misconduct Report Writing - 12 hours

MRSA Overview - 1 hour

OJT Preparation: What to Expect - 2 hours

Orientation - 16 hours

  [Includes: Administrative (1), Employee Handbook (3), Initial Admin Process (3),

  Intro to ORT (1), Personnel (3), Physical Testing (2), Uniforms (2), and Union (1)]

Perimeter Security - 6 hours

Personal Searches - 6 hours 

Physical Training - 27 hours

Policies and Procedures - 4 hours

Prisoner Discipline - 4 hours

Prisoner Grievances - 2 hours

Prisoner Transportation Overview - 2 hours

Programs and Services - 3 hours 

Prohibited Sexual Conduct Involving Prisoners - 2 hours

Public Relations - 2 hours

Restraints - 6 hours

Right to Know - 2 hours

Sanitation - 2 hours 

Security Classification - 2 hours

Security Threat Groups - 2 hours 

Segregation - 4 hours

Setups and Professional Conduct - 4 hours

Simulated Incident Training - 6 hours 

Situation Assessment - 2 hours 

*Skill Proficiency Development - 14 hours

Substance Abuse - 4 hours

Suicide Prevention - 5 hours

Workplace Safety - 1 hour

Testing:

2 Tri-Weekly Exams - 4 hours

Custody & Security (practical) - 4 hours

Shotgun Training and Qualification - 4 hours

Fire Safety Practical - 1 hour

Managing Youthful Offenders - 16 hours (Attended by recruits assigned to facilities with youthful offenders)

Mentoring: A Guide to Success - 2 hours

Perimeter Security Practical - 2 hours

Vital Differences in Managing Women Prisoners - 32 hours (Attended by recruits assigned to facilities with female prisoners)

OJT - 2 Months
