Requirements for EmploymentAgency: Corrections
Some jobs require a Civil Service Examination and require you to be in the applicant pool to be eligible to apply for vacancies. You may obtain an application by clicking on one of the below exam links:
Exam #4012 - Entry Level Security (Corrections Officer and Forensic Security Aide)
Exam #4081 - Corrections Supervisors ( State Employees only - Assistant Resident Unit Supervisor, Corrections Security Inspector, Corrections Shift Supervisor, and Resident Unit Manager)
E-mail the form to MDCS-BHRS@michigan.gov or mail directly to the Civil Service Commission, 400 South Pine St., P.O. Box 30002, Lansing, MI, 48909. For these jobs, the Department of Civil Service administers an exam, and maintains an applicant pool that state agencies utilize when they have vacancies.
For all other jobs , you may click on the "MI Jobs" button. Computers may be available for your use at public libraries, technology centers at public schools, Michigan Works Agencies, Community Colleges, and Universities.
After connecting to the website, you can begin by clicking on the job title you are interested in and then clicking on the "Apply" link. If this is the first time you are applying using our online job application, you will need to create an account and select a Username and Password. After your account has been established, you can build an application by clicking on the "Build Job Application" link. This application can be saved and used to apply for more than one job opening. An applicant must meet the minimum qualifications of the position for which they are applying.
Employment Restrictions: An applicant who has been convicted of a felony cannot be hired, in accordance with Public Act 140 of 1996. In addition, no applicant can be hired who has pending felony or misdemeanor charges (includes deferred sentences), or who has a controlled substance violation in any jurisdiction, including military controlled substance-related discharges. In addition, an applicant who has been convicted of any misdemeanor shall not be eligible for employment until one year after satisfactorily completing any sentence imposed, including probation. Also, an applicant who has been convicted of domestic violence cannot be hired into any position which requires the possession or use of weapons or ammunition. Any new applicant hired into a position by the Department of Corrections must successfully pass a drug screen.
