Muskegon Correctional Facility provides a wide range of programs. Academic programs cover Adult Basic Education and General Education Development completion. Also offered is training programs in food preparation.

Many programs are carried out with the help of a variety of Muskegon community groups. Volunteers, made up primarily of local clergy and lay people, assist the staff chaplain in providing religious instruction.

The Muskegon Correctional Facility was a pioneer in using a pre-release program, which was developed by a committee made up of prisoners and staff. Currently Substance Abuse Education and Thinking For a Change are provided.
