On February 2, 2009 Camp Valley was converted to a housing unit and is officially part of Huron Valley Women Facility. Camp Valley was originally a housing unit within Huron Valley Women's Facility in the late 1980's. After Huron Valley Women's Facility closed in 1991, this site became a Technical Rule Violators Center for Field Operations. In March 2007, this site was re-opened as Camp Valley, a work camp for 260 women offenders which operated under the administrative control of the Huron Valley Complex - Women. Camp Valley prisoners work at a variety of public works assignments in neighboring communities. On site programs included Adult Basic Education, General Education Development preparation and testing, life skills and pre-release preparation, substance abuse education, Alcoholics Anonymous, assaultive offender programming and other group counseling. There was Law Library and general library for recreational reading. Routine medical, dental and mental health services were also provided on site.
