General
Pugsley Correctional Facility currently utilizes
180 acres located approximately 25 miles southeast of Traverse City. Within
the 180 acres, 23 acres are fenced. The structures are made of a pole style
brick exterior with a plaster board interior. Throughout the housing units
and programs building are painted/sealed floors. Also within the facility
is the renovated Camp building which is made of blocks and mortar.
Programming
Academic programming includes General Education Development
and several vocational programs.
Routine medical and dental care are provided on site. Serious medical problems
are treated at local area hospitals.
Security
Security includes two 15.5 foot high fences,
with the interior fence being topped with a single roll of razor wire, while
the inner side of the exterior fence being covered with several rolls of
three foot razor wire from top to bottom. A patrol road surrounds
the perimeter of the facility, and a vehicle responds to all detection systems
alarms. A surveillance camera system is located at the sally port and is
monitored within the control center. The sally port is operated within the
control center for added security of this area. |
