Project: The GirlPower specialized prevention services project will provide education and support to families in the Big Brother Big Sister programs, with a focus on issues that focus on different topics such as; 1. Community Based Mentoring for At-Risk Girls which will feature monthly activities for Big Sister/Little Sister matches that focus on different topics such as; pregnancy prevention, violence prevention, how to make healthy lifestyle choices, and relationship building; 2. The Circle of Parents, bi-weekly support program, will be for the parents of children in Big Brother Big Sister programs, with a focus on Western Marquette County communities which includes Ishpeming; 3. Provide Lunch Buddies to children in the Ishpeming School District that will meet weekly for the entire school year.
