The Children's Trust Fund (CTF) was established by the Michigan Legislature in 1982 through Public Act 249 of 1982 and Public Act 250 of 1982. CTF serves as a voice for Michigan's children and families and promotes their health, safety, and welfare by funding effective local programs and services that prevent child abuse and neglect.

The Board consists of 11 public members who will each serve 3 year terms. The Board also includes the Director of the Department of Health and Human Services, the Superintendent of Public Instruction, and the Director of the Department of State Police, or designees authorized to speak on their behalf.
