'Be More Careful' e-mails should be avoided, East Lansing police warn

EAST LANSING - Police are asking residents not to open e-mails with "Be More Careful" in the subject line.

East Lansing police have responded to two reports of people opening e-mails with a similar subject line.

The messages said the recipient would be killed if he or she didn't wire $15,000 to a designated place at a designated time.

People who receive similar e-mails are asked to forward them to the Federal Trade Commission at spam@uce.gov.

For more information, contact Detective Scott Wriggelsworth at 319-6846 or Detective Jim Phelps at 319-6811
