For those interested in accelerating the turn-around time for obtaining Water and Wastewater System Construction Permits, the Department of Environmental Quality will be hosting a workshop at Lansing Community College's West Campus on December 5 that will provide an opportunity to learn more about the department's permitting processes directly from DEQ technical experts.
DEQ staff will discuss common, avoidable mistakes made by applicants that delay approval of construction permits for water and sewer systems. Developers, community representatives, consultants, and others involved in water and sewer construction projects are encouraged to attend and learn how to avoid these mistakes and make the process work better for them.
The registration fee for this training is $125, which includes continental breakfast, lunch, and workshop materials. A full brochure and online registration are available on the Web at www.michigan.gov/deqworkshops, click on "Upcoming DEQ Workshops." Registration information is also available by contacting the DEQ's Environmental Assistance Center at 1-800-662-9278, or e-mail at deq-ead-env-assist@michigan.gov.
Editor's note: DEQ news releases are available on the department's Internet home page at www.michigan.gov/deq.
