Workshop for New Web-Based Reporting of Air Emissions

Contact:  Robert McCann (517) 373-7917
Agency: Environmental Quality

January 6, 2010

Nearly 1,900 Michigan facilities are required to annually report their emissions of air pollutants to the Department of Environmental Quality.  The 2010 Introduction to MAERS Workshop will feature the new web-based Michigan Air Emissions Reporting System (MAERS), which is being implemented for the reporting year 2009 air emissions.

The workshop will be held in Gaylord with a live video conference in Marquette on January 21, Livonia on January 26, Kalamazoo on January 28, Dearborn on February 2, Muskegon on February 4, Livonia on February 9, and Lansing on February 11.  This workshop has been designed specifically for businesses subject to MAERS reporting.  Participants will be taken step-by-step through the system in an interactive, hands-on format, and will learn how to register as a new user in the new MAERS, how to navigate through the web-based forms and utilities, and how to complete and submit reports using the new MAERS.

MAERS reporting begins January 2010.  A limited number of seats are available, so register early.  The registration fee of $75 includes refreshments, the MAERS Workbook, and other guidance materials.  Register on-line at www.michigan.gov/deqworkshops(click on "Upcoming DEQ Workshops").  For registration information, contact the Environmental Assistance Center at 1-800-662-9278, or e-mail at deq-ead-env-assist@michigan.gov.

Editor's note: DEQ news releases are available on the department's Internet home page at www.michigan.gov/deq.
