LOCATION: This twenty-acre site is located on the White River in the City of White Cloud. The White River meanders through the eastern boundary of the property, creating approximately 1300 feet of very scenic river frontage.

SITE HISTORY: A part of this City owned property was utilized as a dumping ground. The site was never licensed as a landfill. Apparently household type items were dumped at this property, but no records are available. The City covered the dumping ground area with a sandy fill some time in the late 60's or early seventies. Some time later concrete and asphalt were dumped at the surface within the former dumping grounds. The concrete-asphalt area is approximately 200 by 500 feet.

CLEANUP ACTIONS:  $120,427 in CMI funds have been expended at this site for monitoring well installation, to monitor any potential impacts to the groundwater and Pine River.  A number of fuel tanks and drums were removed and disposed of properly. Concrete and asphalt was crushed to be recycled and was hauled off site. The area has been restored with topsoil and vegetation.

REDEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL: The City-owned site is located on M-20 with easy access to US-131. The site is located within a planned commercial-industrial park area. The property has excellent commercial-recreational business potential.
