Contact:  Robert McCann (517) 373-7917
Agency: Environmental Quality

January 6, 2010

The Department of Environmental Quality will be hosting the 2010 SARA Title III Tier Two Workshops, being held in Ypsilanti on January 21, Grand Rapids on January 26, and Lansing on January 28.  This half-day workshop is designed for owners, operators, and environmental and safety personnel of facilities that have hazardous materials on-site.  Environmental consultants, Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPCs), and fire department personnel can also benefit from this workshop and are encouraged to attend.

Attendees will learn how to complete and submit the on-line Tier Two report.  SARA Title III emergency planning notification requirements and chemical release reporting requirements in Michigan will also be addressed.  Information received from this workshop will help avoid costly penalties while protecting the first responder, the community, and the environment.  Participants will receive the "Michigan Facilities' Guide to SARA Title III, Emergency Planning & Release Reporting."

The registration fee of $75 includes continental breakfast and workshop materials.  Register on-line at www.michigan.gov/deqworkshops, click on "Upcoming DEQ Workshops."  For registration information, contact the Environmental Assistance Center at 1-800-662-9278, or e-mail at  deq-ead-env-assist@michigan.gov.
