DEQ Announces New Chief of the Financial and Business Services Division

Contact:  Robert McCann (517) 241-7397
Agency: Environmental Quality

September 15, 2004

Department of Environmental Quality Director Steven E. Chester announced today that James Kasprzak will be joining the agency as the Chief of the Financial and Business Services Division. Mr. Kasprzak’s experience in developing budget and policy recommendations, as well as working through the legislative appropriations process, was seen by Director Chester as a perfect fit for the position.

Mr. Kasprzak comes to the DEQ from his current position as the Director of Bureau of Administrative Services within the Family Independence Agency. Prior to that, he was the Director of the Office of Budget Development and Information for the Department of Management and Budget.

“Jim brings with him significant experience in building highly effective partnerships among internal agency managers, other agencies, and the Legislature,” said Director Chester. “His knowledge of fiscal and strategic planning, along with his commitment to professional development, will certainly be put to good use here in the DEQ.”

Mr. Kasprzak is expected to assume his new position on September 27, 2004.
