The Department of Environmental Quality today announced that nearly $112 million dollars in loan commitments from the Drinking Water Revolving Fund and the State Revolving Fund were recently issued. These funding sources provide low-interest financing for local units of government to make needed improvements to public drinking water systems and wastewater collection and treatment facilities.
These commitments bring total SRF financing awarded to Michigan communities to over $2 billion and the DWRF financing to over $330 million. This highlights the strong commitments by both the DEQ and local units of government in Michigan to ensure the public health of its citizens through the protection of the state’s valuable water resources.
“These programs represent the primary source of financial assistance available to local governments and continue to be the most effective means of providing assistance for critical water and wastewater infrastructure needs,” said DEQ Director Steven E. Chester.
