Grant applications for funding watershed projects under Michigan’s Nonpoint Source Program are now available from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality.
Watershed projects can either develop a comprehensive watershed management plan or implement recommendations from previously approved watershed plans to control nonpoint sources of pollution and protect water quality.
Grant applications must be postmarked by Friday, April 8, 2005, to be eligible. Grant applications are available at the DEQ, Constitution Hall, 525 West Allegan Street, Lansing, and can also be viewed at www.michigan.gov/deqnonpointsourcepollution then click on “grant applicant information.”
Michigan's NPS Program was developed under the federal Clean Water Act and approved in 1989. Since then, the NPS Program has assisted organizations in protecting and enhancing water quality by addressing runoff and other diffuse sources of pollution on a watershed basis. For further information on this grant program, contact Mr. Robert Sweet at (517) 335-6967, or e-mail sweetr@michigan.gov.
