The Department of Environmental Quality’s Environmental Science and Services Division, in cooperation with the DEQ’s Air Quality Division, presents these quarterly statewide workshops in 2005 to help businesses understand what triggers the need for an air permit (Permit to Install) and how to correctly fill out a Permit to Install application. The workshop is being offered in Lansing on March 16, Grand Rapids on June 15, Livonia on September 14, and back in Lansing on December 7.
Rule 201 of the Michigan Air Pollution Control Rules requires a person to obtain an approved Permit to Install prior to the installation, relocation, modification, or reconstruction of a source of air pollution unless the source is exempt from the permitting process. Sources of air pollution include paint or other coating application booths, storage tanks, printing presses, boilers, plating operations, degreasers, and ovens.
Workshop attendees will receive a copy of the Permit to Install: Determining Applicability and the Permit to Install: How to Complete a Permit to Install Application guidebooks and learn the steps and documentation needed to submit an “administratively and technically complete” permit application.
The registration cost of $75 includes workshop materials and a boxed lunch. Register online at www.michigan.gov/deqworkshops (click on “Upcoming Workshops”). For registration information, contact the Environmental Assistance Center at 1-800-662-9278, or e-mail at deq-ead-env-assist@michigan.gov.
