Workshop to Help Michigan Businesses with Renewable Operating Permit Applications

Contact:  Patricia Spitzley (517) 241-7397
Agency: Environmental Quality

February 11, 2005

The Department of Environmental Quality’s Environmental Science and Services Division will conduct quarterly statewide workshops in 2005 to help businesses understand how to complete a Renewable Operating Permit (ROP) application using the PASS-ROP software. The workshop is being offered in Lansing on March 23, Grand Rapids on June 22, Livonia on September 21, and back in Lansing on December 14.

If your facility is subject to a ROP, you must submit an initial ROP application and renew your ROP every five years. This workshop is designed for those with little or no experience using the PASS-ROP software and anyone who may need a review of the basics. Attendees will learn software basics, how to complete the electronic forms and submit them to the DEQ, and how to avoid common mistakes when completing and submitting your application.

Workshop attendees will receive a copy of the PASS-ROP guidebook and will be taken step-by-step through the software in an interactive, hands-on format.

The registration cost of $50 includes all workshop materials. Register online at www.michigan.gov/deqworkshops (click on “Upcoming Workshops”). For registration information, contact the Environmental Assistance Center at 1-800-662-9278, or e-mail at deq-ead-env-assist@michigan.gov.

Editor’s note: DEQ news releases are available on the department’s Internet home page at www.michigan.gov/deq.
