Contact:  Robert McCann (517) 241-7397
Agency: Environmental Quality

May 18, 2005

Department of Environmental Quality Director Steven E. Chester has announced an Outreach Session to be held in Escanaba on May 25.

Director Chester and several of his key staff are continuing to hold public outreach sessions across the state to solicit comments from citizens on environmental issues facing their community. The Escanaba Outreach Session will be held at Bay De Noc College, Joseph Heirman University Center, Room 962, 2001 North Lincoln Road in Escanaba. The event is from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will begin with a short presentation by Director Chester. The public meeting will then be opened for an informal question and answer session.

“It is crucial that the DEQ is accessible to the citizens of Michigan,” said DEQ Director Chester. “These forums provide us with the opportunity to hear comments and concerns about Michigan’s environment directly from citizens across our state.”
