Department of Environmental Quality Director Steven E. Chester today announced that Cadillac Products Automotive Company in northern Presque Isle County has been designated as a Michigan Clean Corporate Citizen in a voluntary program recognizing environmental stewardship. Cadillac Products Automotive in Rogers City becomes the 113th facility statewide to earn the designation.
“I am especially pleased to honor this northern Michigan manufacturer as the first Clean Corporate Citizen in Presque Isle County,” said Director Chester. “The management and associates at Cadillac Products Automotive have demonstrated that a commitment to protect our resources for future generations can be built into all aspects of a vital business enterprise. I congratulate the entire Rogers City team for this accomplishment.”
Cadillac Products Automotive has set and achieved environmental goals that include reductions in electricity usage, reducing adhesive waste by 15 percent, conducting a comprehensive facility investigation to identify additional opportunities for energy savings, on-going recycling of cardboard and paper, and expanding use of returnable pallets.
Cadillac Products Automotive has also earned International Standards Organization 14001 certification, meeting the voluntary international standard for environmental management systems.
To qualify for a Clean Corporate Citizen designation, candidates must adopt a facility-specific environmental management system, active pollution prevention initiatives, and have a consistent record of compliance with applicable environmental requirements. The program is open to establishments regulated under any of Michigan’s environmental statutes. Designations are valid for one year and must be renewed annually.
