Nearly 1,900 Michigan facilities are required to annually report their emissions of air pollutants to the Department of Environmental Quality. The “Introduction to the Michigan Air Emissions Reporting System" (MAERS) workshop will help businesses and institutions submit their reports electronically using the MAERS software. Workshops will be held in Gaylord on January 31, Livonia on February 2, Clinton Township on February 7, Grand Rapids on February 9, and Lansing on February 14.
This year's “Introduction to MAERS” workshop will again feature hands-on computer training. Workshop participants will be taken step-by-step through the MAERS version 2005.0.0 software in an interactive, hands-on format. This workshop has been designed for those with little or no experience using the MAERS software and anyone who may need a review of the MAERS basics. “Introduction to MAERS” workshop participants will learn:
• MAERS software basics including installation, navigation, and
how to download a database.
• How to complete the electronic forms and submit a report to the
DEQ.
• How to avoid common mistakes encountered when completing
and submitting a MAERS report.
A limited number of computers will be available at each location, so interested parties should register early to ensure a spot at the training. Two sessions are being offered at each location, and registration can be made for either the morning or afternoon session.
The registration fee of $75 includes refreshments and workshop materials. Register online at www.michigan.gov/deqworkshops (click on “Upcoming Workshops”). For registration information, contact the Environmental Assistance Center at 1-800-662-9278, or e-mail at deq-ead-env-assist@michigan.gov.
Editor’s note: DEQ news releases are available on the department’s Internet home page at www.michigan.gov/deq.
