The Department of Environmental Quality will be hosting a workshop on managing electronic waste in Michigan. “Managing E-Waste in Michigan” will be held on April 6 at the Genoa Woods Banquet and Conference Center in Brighton.
Electronic waste is a growing part of the global waste stream. As older computers, televisions, cell phones, and other electronics become obsolete every year, the need to manage them in a safe manner increases. Attendees will learn how to properly manage electronic waste while complying with the applicable environmental regulations.
Morning workshop sessions will focus on community collections, while afternoon sessions will be regulatory-focused and apply to recyclers and regulated hazardous waste generators including businesses, institutions, and government agencies. Participants may choose to attend either the morning or afternoon session, or both.
This event will also feature E-waste recycling vendors; and attendees will be able to meet first-hand with representatives from the industry who can talk about how their companies manage electronic waste.
The cost of registration to attend the full day, including lunch, is $75, while attending only the morning or afternoon session is $50. To register online, go to www.michigan.gov/deqworkshops and click on “Upcoming DEQ Workshops.” For registration information, contact the Environmental Assistance Center, (800) 662-9278, or E-mail at deq-ead-env-assist@michigan.gov.
