Department of Environmental Quality Director Steven E. Chester will join with residents of Sugar Island, Sault Ste Marie, and nearby communities, to discuss recent concerns over water conditions in the St. Mary’s River at a town hall meeting being held this evening. The meeting will take place at 7 pm at the Sugar Island Community Center, 6401 E. 1 1/2 mile Rd.

“This meeting is an excellent opportunity for residents of this community to come together and have their voices heard,” said Director Chester. “I look forward to a constructive dialogue on how we can all play a role in protecting our waters.”

The meeting is open to the public. Local and state elected officials will be in attendance, as well as representatives from the county health department, and other area agencies.
