Department of Environmental Quality Director Steven E. Chester, along with Department of Natural Resources Director Rebecca A. Humphries, and Department of History, Arts and Libraries Director William Anderson will be meeting with local leaders next week to discuss a new initiative focused on developing innovative approaches to expand local tourism and economic development in the Saginaw Bay coastal area while continuing to improve the quality of the environment and the ecology of the region.
The first meeting will be held on August 31, at the Doubletree Hotel in Bay City beginning at 12:30 p.m. Details of the agenda for what is being called the Saginaw Bay Coastal Initiative and additional information are available online at www.michigan.gov/deq, then click on Saginaw Bay Coastal Initiative.
