Contact:  Robert McCann (517) 241-7397
Agency: Environmental Quality

October 18, 2006

The Department of Environmental Quality will be hosting a workshop to assist anyone looking to accelerate their turn-around time for obtaining Water and Wastewater System Construction Permits. Experience shows there are common, avoidable mistakes that delay approval of construction permits. DEQ technical experts will present new review procedures, web based applicant information and other methods that can help applicants eliminate these problems.

The workshops are open to developers, community representatives, consultants, or anyone involved in water and sewer construction permitting. The workshops will be held on December 7th at the Treetops Resort in Gaylord, and on December 14th at the Kellogg Conference Center, Michigan State University in East Lansing.

The registration fee for this training is $75, which includes continental breakfast, lunch, and workshop materials. A full brochure and online registration are available on the Web at www.michigan.gov/deqworkshops, click on "Upcoming DEQ Workshops." For registration information, contact the Environmental Assistance Center at 1-800-662-9278, or e-mail at deq-ead-env-assist@michigan.gov.
