Michigan's Clean Corporate Citizen Program Welcomes Flexible Products Company

Contact:  Robert McCann (517) 241-7397
Agency: Environmental Quality

November 9, 2006

Department of Environmental Quality Director Steven E. Chester announced today that the Flexible Products Company of Auburn Hills has been designated as a Clean Corporate Citizen in a voluntary program recognizing environmental stewardship.

"I would like to congratulate the entire team at Flexible Products for earning this distinction," said Director Chester. "The company and its employees are playing a part in helping us live up to our commitment of providing for a healthy environment and a healthy economy throughout Michigan."

Flexible Products Company has voluntarily installed air filtration systems on injection molding presses to control odors, and has programs in place to avoid battery acid spills, oil and fluid leaks, and aggressive recycling programs for cardboard, oil, steel, non-steel metals, and silicone.

"At Flexible Products Company, we have a strong commitment to protecting our environment," said Doug L. Reid, Flexible Products Company President. "This recognition as a Clean Corporate Citizen just reflects how we manage our day to day operations."

Michigan's Clean Corporate Citizen certification is a voluntary program recognizing environmental stewardship. To qualify for a Clean Corporate Citizen designation, candidates must adopt a facility-specific EMS, have active pollution prevention initiatives, and have a consistent record of compliance with applicable environmental requirements. The program is open to establishments regulated under any of Michigan's environmental statutes, and designations must be renewed on a regular basis.
