The Department of Environmental Quality and the Partnership for the Saginaw Bay Watershed will be hosting a presentation on the Saginaw Bay Coastal Initiative on March 7, at 7 p.m. at the Bay City State Park Visitors Center. The Saginaw Bay Coastal Initiative is a new partnership effort focused on developing innovative approaches to expanding local tourism and economic development while achieving resource and environmental protection within the Saginaw Bay coastal area.
Charles Bauer, an Environmental Quality Analyst with the DEQ's Water Bureau will provide an overview of the recent activities of the Saginaw Bay Coastal Initiative. The discussion will focus on environmental issues affecting Saginaw Bay and how the Saginaw Bay Coastal Initiative is working to address those issues.
Bauer's presentation is the kick-off to the Partnership's 2007 Speakers Series which is intended to initiate discussions on a number of environmental issues of importance to the Saginaw Bay Coastal Initiative through a series of monthly presentations focused on related topics.
