The Department of Environmental Quality has posted a new report online that provides a detailed geotechnical review of the application for the Kennecott Eagle Minerals Company to conduct mining operations at the proposed Eagle Project Mine near Marquette. The report was completed by Dr. Wilson Blake and looks at specific concerns regarding the safety of the mining project.
The DEQ is currently reviewing the report and will provide updates as to the status of the permitting process in the coming weeks.
The report is posted on the DEQ's Web site at www.michigan.gov/deq, then click on Kennecott Eagle Project under "Issues to Watch."
