The Department of Environmental Quality and the Partnership for the Saginaw Bay Watershed will be hosting a presentation on Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation compliance issues in Saginaw Bay on October 17, at 7 p.m. at the Bay City State Recreation Area Visitors Center.
Colby Cottick of the Department of Environmental Quality will address CAFO permit requirements and the status of CAFO compliance issues in the Saginaw Bay District. Cottick is a Senior Environmental Quality Analyst with the DEQ's Water Bureau and is the CAFO inspector for the Saginaw Bay District. Cottick has a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from Ferris State University.
Cottick's presentation is the third in a series of discussions to look at animal agriculture and its impacts on Saginaw Bay, a priority issue identified through the Saginaw Bay Coastal Initiative.
