Nearly 1,900 Michigan facilities are required to annually report emissions of air pollutants to the Department of Environmental Quality every year, and the DEQ is offering a workshop to help these facilities submit their reports electronically using the Michigan Air Emissions Reporting System (MAERS).
The "Introduction to MAERS" workshops will be held in Gaylord on February 7, Livonia on February 12, Kalamazoo on February 21, and Lansing on February 26. This hands-on training is designed for those who are new to MAERS or those who need more comprehensive training on the concepts and software. The Intro workshops take participants step by step through the new MAERS version 2007.0.0 software on computers. Workshop participants will learn MAERS software basics, how to complete the electronic forms and submit the report, and how to avoid common mistakes encountered when completing and submitting a MAERS report. The registration fee of $75 includes refreshments and workshop materials.
Workshop attendees will receive the MAERS Workbook and the MAERS version 2007.0.0 software. Registration can be made online at www.michigan.gov/deqworkshops (click on "Upcoming DEQ Workshops"). For registration information, contact the Environmental Assistance Center at 1-800-662-9278, or e-mail at deq-ead-env-assist@michigan.gov.
