The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) announced today that the 2009 SARA Title III Tier Two Workshops are being held in Grand Rapids on January 22, Lansing on January 27, and Livonia on January 28. These half-day workshops are designed for owners, operators, and environmental and safety personnel of facilities that have hazardous materials on site. Environmental consultants, local emergency planning committees, and fire department personnel can also benefit from this workshop and are encouraged to attend.
Attendees will learn how to complete and submit the online Tier Two report. SARA Title III emergency planning notification requirements and chemical release reporting requirements in Michigan will also be addressed. Information received from this workshop can help avoid costly penalties while protecting the first responder, the community, and the environment. Participants will receive the "Michigan Facilities' Guide to SARA Title III, Emergency Planning & Release Reporting."
The registration fee of $75 includes continental breakfast and workshop materials. Registration can be done online at www.michigan.gov/deqworkshops, click on "Upcoming DEQ Workshops."
