Workshop for Dam Owners and Operators

The Department of Environmental Quality and the Association of State Dam Safety Officials will be hosting the Michigan Dam Owners Workshop on April 17 at Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath, as well as April 28 at Northern Michigan University in Marquette. This workshop will present practical and straightforward information on topics of importance to anyone who owns or operates a dam.

Developed by a committee working with ASDSO and the FEMA National Dam Safety Program, this course includes information about state laws, proper operation and maintenance, rehabilitation issues, dam owner liability, and emergency action planning. Speakers will include experts with a broad range of backgrounds, including engineering, emergency management, the National Weather Service, dam operation and maintenance, and the state Dam Safety Program.

The registration fee of $30 includes refreshments, lunch, and workshop materials. Registration is available online at www.michigan.gov/deqworkshops (click on "Upcoming DEQ Workshops").
