The Department of Environmental Quality, Department of Natural Resources, and the Partnership for the Saginaw Bay Watershed will be hosting two presentations: "Muck Management at the Bay City State Recreation Area - the Uncensored Version", by Michael Evanoff, DNR; and "Perspectives on Eutrophication and Beach Fouling in the Great Lakes", presented by Craig Stow and Juli Bressie, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, on April 7, at 3 p.m. at the Bay City State Recreation Area Visitors Center.
Michael Evanoff of the DNR will discuss the history of muck management at the Bay City State Recreation Area beach, while Dr. Stow and Dr. Bressie from NOAA Great Lakes Laboratory will then explore the history of beach fouling in the Great Lakes region and Saginaw Bay. There will also be discussion of current NOAA research in Saginaw Bay.
These presentations are the second in a series of discussions that will occur over the next few months regarding muck management in Saginaw Bay, a priority issue identified through the Saginaw Bay Coastal Initiative.
