Computer Recycling at Constitution Hall

Contact:  Robert McCann (517) 241-7397
Agency: Environmental Quality

April 17, 2009

On Wednesday, April 22, from 7:30 a. m. to 3:00 p.m., Goodwill will be holding a special electronics collection at Constitution Hall in downtown Lansing in conjunction with the Department of Environmental Quality, Department of Natural Resources, and Department of Agriculture Earth Day Celebration.

People in the Lansing area are welcome to bring their old, unwanted personal computer equipment from home to the Goodwill trailer that will be located East of Constitution Hall, near the corner of Allegan and Walnut. To reach the Goodwill trailer, drive north on Walnut to the designated meters just south of Allegan on the west side of the street. Look for signs and volunteers. Do not drive into the Ellis Parking Lot.

The collection is free. Please remember you are responsible for wiping any data from the hard drive of the computer equipment that is being recycled. Goodwill will only be collecting computers and peripheral equipment.

For those who live outside of the Lansing area, Goodwill locations around Michigan are accepting residential computer equipment for reuse and recycling at no charge. Check a phone book or go to www.reconnectpartnership.com to find a Goodwill facility near you.

For more information about local recycling, household hazardous waste, and composting programs go to the list of community contacts at http://www.michigan.gov/deq/0,1607,7-135-3585_4130-115394--,00.html.
