Workshop to Help Michigan Businesses With Renewable Operating Permit Application

Contact:  Patricia Spitzley (517) 241-7397
Agency: Environmental Quality

February 18, 2004

The Department of Environmental Quality’s Environmental Science and Services Division is offering statewide workshops in 2004 to help businesses understand how to complete a Renewable Operating Permit (ROP) application using the PASS-ROP software. The workshops are being offered in Lansing on March 24, June 23, September 22, and November 17. Other locations include Livonia on May 25, and Gaylord on October 28.

If a facility is subject to a ROP, the operator must submit an initial ROP application and renew the ROP every five years. This workshop is designed for those with little or no experience using the PASS-ROP software and anyone who may need a review of the basics. Attendees will learn software basics, how to complete the electronic forms and submit them to the DEQ, and how to avoid common mistakes when completing and submitting their application.

Workshop attendees will receive a copy of the PASS-ROP guidebook and will be taken step-by-step through the software in an interactive, hands-on format.

The registration cost of $50 includes all workshop materials. To register, call the Environmental Assistance Center at 1-800-662-9278, or register on-line at www.michigan.gov/deq-workshops (click on “Workshops”).

Editor’s note: DEQ news releases are available on the department’s Internet home page at www.michigan.gov/deq.
