Contact:  Patricia Spitzley (517) 241-7397
Agency: Environmental Quality

April 20, 2004

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality presents the Annual Wastewater Reporting (AWR) Workshop, being held at the Hannah Community Center in East Lansing on June 2, 2004.

The AWR Program and the Critical Materials Register (CMR) are administered by the DEQ. The AWR program was established pursuant to Part 31, Water Resources Protection, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, as amended (NREPA), Section 3111. Under this program, the use of materials listed on the CMR above threshold amounts must be reported.

The AWR workshop is designed for companies that discharge wastewater to the waters of the state or to a sanitary sewer system, or that use chemicals listed on the CMR and discharge them into wastewater or residuals transferred off-site for further treatment.

The registration fee of $50 includes continental breakfast and workshop materials. Register online at www.michigan.gov/deqworkshops (click on “Workshops”). For registration information, contact the Environmental Assistance Center at 1-800-662-9278, or e-mail at deq-ead-env-assist@michigan.gov.

Editor’s note: DEQ news releases are available on the department’s Internet home page at www.michigan.gov/deq.
