April 28, 2004

Department of Environmental Quality Director Steven E. Chester announces a public meeting to be held in Grand Rapids on May 13, 2004.

Director Chester and several of his key staff will be conducting public outreach sessions across the state to solicit comments on environmental issues facing their community. The Grand Rapids Public Meeting will be held at the Grand Rapids Township Hall, 1836 East Beltline, N.E. in Grand Rapids. The event is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will begin with a short presentation by Director Chester. The public meeting will then be opened for an informal question and answer session.

“It is crucial that the DEQ decision maker is accessible to the citizens of the state,” said DEQ Director Chester. “These forums provide me with the opportunity to directly engage in one-on-one discussions on environmental issues facing citizens in their community.”

Please contact DEQ Press Secretary Patricia Spitzley at 517-241-7397 for more information.
