Agency: Environmental Quality


Field Operations staff are responsible for executing field and compliance related tasks for the purpose of enforcing requirements of Part 55 of 1994 P.A. 451 and the federal air statutes.  Staff work to  protect and improve the air so it is healthy to breathe and risks to human health and the environment are reduced.  Specific responsibilities include conducting inspections of manufacturing operations to determine compliance with air pollution control regulations and facility permits; assisting with the implementation of timely and appropriate compliance programs for non-compliant sources; initiating enforcement efforts against sources in non-compliance, when necessary; responding, to air pollution complaints, as necessary; directly overseeing source emission testing to assure that testing is conducted according to approved protocol; reviewing annual emission inventory and fee calculations; and conducting review and approval of Renewable Operating Permits (Title V).
