Friday, October 7, 2011: 
The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality receives a request for amendment to the Humboldt Mill Permit.  Request for Amendment , Nonferrous Metallic Mineral Mining Permit MP012010, Kennecott Eagle Minerals Company DEQ Determination Regarding Request for Amendment Humboldt Mill Permit.


Thursday December 3, 2009: The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) held a public hearing to accept comments on a series of permit applications from the Kennecott Eagle Minerals Company (KEMC) to reopen the Humboldt Mill.  The hearing were held on Tuesday, December 1, 2009.
The DEQ will accept written comments until close of business on Tuesday, December 29, 2009.  


Wednesday, October 7, 2009: Public Hearing on Proposed Kennecott Humboldt Mill Permit Applications: The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) will hold a public hearing to accept comments on a series of permit applications from the Kennecott Eagle Minerals Company (KEMC) to reopen the Humboldt Mill.  Documents related to the Public Hearing are:  the Notice of Public Hearing , the Public Hearing Process , the Proposed Decision the Draft Part 632 Mining Permit the  Air Permit Fact Sheet and the  Draft Air Permit  



Thursday, October 1, 2009: Kennecott Eagle Minerals Company Kennecott Eagle Minerals provides a Waiver letter to the DEQ  extending the time available for review of the Permit Application for the Kennecott Humboldt Mill.


 Tuesday, September 15, 2009: Kennecott Eagle Minerals Company Kennecott Eagle Minerals provides a Waiver letter to the DEQ  extending the time available for review of the Permit Application for the Kennecott Humboldt Mill.


 Friday, July 31, 2009: Kennecott Eagle Minerals Company Kennecott Eagle Minerals provides a Waiver letter to the DEQ  extending the time available for review of the Permit Application for the Kennecott Humboldt Mill. Wednesday, July 15, 2009:    Kennecott Eagle Minerals Company responds to comments received from Lorax Environmental Services regarding the Humboldt Mill Part 632 Permit Application.  The reply follows a comment response format.  The reply is in two parts, select a link to review the documents:  Part 1 of 2 ; Part 2 of 2 . 


Thursday, June 18, 2009: Kennecott Eagle Minerals provides a Waiver letter to the DEQ extending the time available for review of the Permit Application for the Kennecott Humboldt Mill. .

Wednesday February 25, 2009:   DEQ sends  Deficiency Letter about the Kennecott Humboldt Mill to Kennecott Eagle  Minerals.


Thursday, January 22, 2009:  A Public Meeting on the Kennecott Eagle Minerals Humboldt Mill mine application is set for Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at the Humboldt Township Hall, 244 County Road FAF, Champion, MI 49814, telephone 906-339-2927.  Additional information about the meeting.   

Friday, January 09, 2009:  The DEQ has determined that the Part 632 Permit Application submitted for the Kennecott Humboldt Mill is Administratively Complete.    ("Administratively complete" means an application for a mining permit is determined to contain all of the documents and information required under Part 632.)

Friday, December 26, 2008: The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, Office of Geological Survey received copies of the Part 632 Permit Application for the Kennecott Humboldt Mill. 
Digital files of the Permit Application  are posted. 
Printed copy of the Part 632 Permit Application  is avail for review as well.


December 2008:   Kennecott Eagle Minerals announced plans to apply for permits to rehabilitate and operate the abandoned Humboldt Mill for beneficiating ores.
As soon as possible after the Part 632 application is received, it will be posted on the web.  It will also be available in printed format at various locations in Marquette County and in Lansing at the Department of Environmental Quality, Office of Geological Survey.
