Radiological Emergency Preparedness Program

Nuclear Facilities The Radiological Emergency Preparedness Program (517-335-2690) is responsible for the development and implementation of Michigan's Nuclear Facilities Emergency Management Plan and the nuclear accident aspects of the Michigan Emergency Management Plan as it relates to the Department Of Natural Resources and Environment's radiological responsibilities to respond to accidents or emergencies at any of Michigan's commercial nuclear power plants.  These efforts are conducted in cooperation with other state agencies and under the overall emergency response coordination responsibilities of the Michigan Department of State Police.  Program staff also interact with nuclear plant utility staff and staff of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission concerning the day-to-day operations of nuclear power reactors to assure radiological protection of the public and the environment.
