James Clift has been the Policy Director of the Michigan Environmental Council since 1999. He is responsible for policy development for the non-profit umbrella organization of over 70 environmental, public health and faith-based organizations located across Michigan. His duties include monitoring legislative activities, interacting with state agencies, general education and media work on a variety of environmental and public health issues.
Prior to working with the Michigan Environmental Council, Mr. Clift worked as an environmental policy analyst with the Michigan Senate for nine years. He is a graduate of Wayne State University Law School and Central Michigan University.
He drinks Michigan's water, swims in it, eats fish caught in it, and seeks to protect it for generations to come.
