Professional Background
Mr. Coleman has 34 years of experience as a regional planner and has been the Executive Director at the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission since 1986. Prior to joining the staff at Tri-County in 1975, Mr. Coleman was the principal planner for the Wichita-Sedgwick County Metropolitan Area Planning Commission for three years. Mr. Coleman also spent four years with the Civil Engineers in the U.S. Air Force working on base design and construction, leaving his tour of duty at the rank of Captain.

Academic Background and Associations
Mr. Coleman holds a Master of Science Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Texas A&M University which he received in 1968. His undergraduate degree is in Architecture also from Texas A&M University. Mr. Coleman is past president of the Regional Economic Development Team, Inc. and the Michigan Transportation Planning Directors Association. He is also a member of the American Planning Association, and a member of APA's Transportation, Regional and Information Technology Divisions as well as the Michigan Association of Planning and the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.
